February 19, 2026

So excited to officially kick things off together. There are a lot of big headlines to cover this week, so let's dive right into the news and scriptures.

Real News

Epstein Files Fallout

United States Department of Justice, Public domain

On January 30, 2026, the DOJ released nearly 3.5 million pages (plus 2,000+ videos and 180,000 images) under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, describing it as full compliance with all production obligations. In a February 14 follow-up letter to Congress, AG Pam Bondi and Deputy AG Todd Blanche confirmed that all responsive records in their possession were released, with redactions only for victim privacy and legal privileges—no political or reputational redactions. Public files are available here.

Critics (including bipartisan lawmakers) strongly dispute this, calling the release incomplete, heavily redacted, and potentially missing millions of pages, fueling ongoing accusations of cover-ups and demands for more transparency. No further major releases have occurred since early February 2026.

Timeless Truth

Christians should rejoice that a grave and orchestrated evil has come to light (Luke 12:2-3). It should be no surprise that we have corrupted and fallen people in positions of power, but consider it God’s mercy that they have been exposed and the righteous now have an opportunity to step in. The darkness can only remain hidden for so long and, in this case, it’s time has come (John 1:5 & John 3:19-20). This is what righteousness looks like: Ephesians 5:11-13 “Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light.” This only furthers that earth is not our home, but our temporary holding place (Hebrews 13:14).

We must pray that the victims who have been affected would receive justice, but would more importantly receive the healing that comes from God alone (1 Peter 2:24 & Isaiah 53:5). We must pray that the forces of darkness would continue to be exposed by the light (Jeremiah 16:17 & Isaiah 29:15). We must pray that as these fallen leaders step down that God would raise up righteous ones to take their place (Proverbs 29:2). To God be all the glory!

Since this is a very high profile and ongoing issue, here are some other resources I recommend to help process this situation as I’m sure more details to address will come out in the following weeks:

Rhode Island Hockey Match Shooting

On Monday, February 16 Robert Dorgan (also known as Roberta Esposito) opened fire in the stands of a high school hockey match, killing two family members, injuring three others and then later taking his own life. No students or players on the ice were injured. Authorities said that although Mr. Dorgan was transgender, this was a targeted/domestic shooting, rather than an ideological one, and was due to an earlier family dispute.

Timeless Truth

Senseless murder is nothing but a tragedy. It's hard to even imagine the heartache that the family and friends of those affected are having to grapple with. Psalm 34:18 says “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” This shooting was not solely ideological, but the real tragedy is the fact that our nation has celebrated people who are confused by their gender, which has caused so many to suffer from inner turmoil and confusion just as this man had.

Ultimately, it was unloving to to let this man believe the lie that he was born in the wrong body, no matter what culture says. 1 Corinthians 13:6 says “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.” Speaking the truth in love is not a suggestion, it's a commandment to every believer (Ephesians 4:15) because without it we look just like the world. People are yearning to hear the truth and its our job to tell it to them (Romans 8:19). Without the truth, confusion will abound and only bring more sadness and tragedy. In Christ, true freedom from confusion and our true identity is found (John 8:32-36).

We must pray that in the midst of this great tragedy these people would come to know the love and mercy of the Father. We must pray that those who feel confused by the lies of the enemy would come to know the One who breathes breath into our lungs (Genesis 2:7) and calls us by name (Isaiah 43:1). We must pray that all those who are involved in handling this situation, from the people present in the stands to the players in the rink to the family and friends involved and to those following this story around the nation, would find true healing, rest, and salvation in our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Nancy Guthrie Missing for Third Week

Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of NBC's Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, has been missing since late January 2026, in what authorities believe is an abduction from her home in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson, Arizona. She was last seen on January 31 and was reported missing on February 1 after not showing up for an online church service with a friend. Surveillance footage from her Google Nest doorbell camera showed a masked, armed individual tampering with the camera shortly before her disappearance. Authorities are still working on this case as she remains missing for a third week.

Timeless Truth

Such senseless actions are truly hard to process on our own. Scripture tells us that there are people who consistently devise evil and say “Come with us, let us lie in wait for blood; let us ambush the innocent without reason; like Sheol let us swallow them alive, and whole” but that “The LORD has made Himself known; He has executed judgment. A wicked one is ensnared in the work of his own hands…” (Proverbs 1:11-19 & Psalm 9:16). While our authorities may still be working on the execution of justice, we can all be encouraged that the Lord will bring judgment on those who devise evil (Micah 2:1). It’s the Lord’s justice that never fails, never turns away, and is never wrong (Romans 12:19).

We must pray that those responsible for this evil would be brought to justice. We must pray that Nancy’s family would feel the comfort and love of God in this incredibly heartbreaking time. We must pray that the authorities would come across evidence, find Nancy, and bring closure to this case.

Let this be a reminder to us that the world is evil and the enemy really is prowling like a lion (1 Peter 5:8), looking for someone to do harm to. In light of this lion, it's equally important that we cling to our Savior (Joshua 23:8-10) and continue to lift our nation up in prayers, that we might see salvation come to it (2 Chronicles 7:14).

SAVE Act gains momentum

The SAVE (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) Act is a Republican backed bill aimed at enhancing America’s election integrity by mandating citizens show some form of ID before voting. Election integrity has been a hot button issue during the last three elections, this bill aims to alleviate that concern. However, some say the bill creates unnecessary barriers to voting and could disenfranchise millions of voters.

Timeless Truth

Proverbs 11:1 says that “a false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.” Any government action that seeks to protect the fairness, security, and transparency of our elections is an honorable one. With high distrust in our electoral processes, this added measure will only ensure that elections are safe and secure, while also giving each voter better peace of mind. Unequal access to US elections, via people who are not citizens, violates the rights of each US citizen, perverting the fairness that people ought to be treated with (Isaiah 10:1-2).

We must pray that our officials would enact righteous laws that uphold justice and fairness in our nation (Proverbs 20:23). We must pray that God would raise up righteous leaders that would lead our nation well (Proverbs 29:2). We must pray that people would continue to seek righteousness in all things that they do and turn from the corruption which so easily tempts us (Genesis 4:7).

Behind the Feed

Lately I’ve gotten really into J.R. Tolkien and Lord of the Rings. One of the many things that is so fascinating about these movies (and books which I have yet to read) is the intense journey that the Fellowship has to go on to destroy the ring, defeat Sauron, and save Middle Earth.

Obviously their journey can be compared to the journey of life. The journey of life has many ups and downs, dangerous moments, and monsters to face, but also incredible mountain tops, moments of courage, and friends - true friends like Samwise - to carry you along the way when your destiny seems too big for you to complete on your own.

Life was never meant to be safe. God never meant for you to be a “safe Christian”, but to go on the journey of a lifetime with Him. The Hobbits were ordinary people, like you and I, but life is full of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. As Gandalf says, “Saruman believes it is only great power that can hold evil in check, but that is not what I have found. I found it is the small everyday deeds of ordinary folk that keep the darkness at bay. Small acts of kindness and love.

So, let this be an encouragement to take part in what the Lord is calling you to do, even if the road ahead is daunting and uncertain. Let God take you on that journey. Let Him do a good work in you (Philippians 1:6), even in uncertainty. You will find that He has joy (James 1:2-4), peace (John 14:27), strength (Psalm 84:6-7 & Isaiah 40:31), the “crown of life” (James 1:12), and so much more waiting for you on the other side.

Final Exhortation

Friends, the news this week was a bit grim. It feels like each headline is heavier than the last. There is always some story that hits deep and makes us wonder why all this evil seems to be happening. However, here’s the Good News: while the world around us seems to be falling apart, God’s eternal plan of redemption is still unfolding without a hitch, delay, or hiccup as we speak (Psalm 43:1-3). Be encouraged that even when evil seems to be winning, God is still seated on His throne and He is still deeply concerned with your life here on earth (Matthew 10:30) until the day you hear the words “Well done good and faithful servant… Enter into the joy of your Master” (Matthew 25:23).

Father, thank you for this week. Although chaos continues to unfold in our world, we rest assured knowing that you are in control. I pray, Father, that your word would remain heavy on our hearts and our minds as we go throughout the rest of our week. Continue to make yourself new to us each and everyday. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
