Moroccan migrants flood Spain
Last week, anywhere from 50-72,000 migrants surged into Ceuta, Spain’s small North African enclave bordering Morocco, by swimming around the border fence or crossing by land.
The influx, was linked in part to a July Spanish Supreme Court ruling restricting immediate “hot returns” of sea arrivals without a physical barrier in place. Majority of the migrants were young Moroccan men
Spain deployed troops and police, authorities installed a floating barrier, while thousands remained initially, including many unaccompanied minors straining local capacity.
The crisis has sparked diplomatic friction with Morocco, domestic political backlash against socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, EU immigration discussions, and renewed Spanish affirmations of sovereignty over Ceuta and Melilla.
Timeless Truth
Mass, undocumented migration policies are not biblical in any way. We have to judge policies by their outcomes not their intention (Proverbs 22:3, Matthew 7:16–20, & Proverbs 14:12)
The Spain Supreme Court may have had good intentions with their immigration ruling, but the actual outcome of that ruling inflicted mass chaos and lawlessness in the city of Ceuta.
A Biblical view of immigration is one that promotes peace and prosperity in a nation. Any policy that causes lawlessness is not a biblical one.
God apportioned and set apart the different nations for a reason (Acts 17:26). Nations are to steward the people under them, not lead them into situations that terrorize them (Romans 13:1-4).
It’s also extremely unwise to let tens of thousands of people (mostly young men) flood in at one time. For starters, nations cannot faithfully steward that many people without putting a strain on infrastructure and damaging the quality of life for the citizens already in that country (Luke 14:28–30, Proverbs 21:5, & Proverbs 24:27).
A flood of illegal immigrants is also a breeding ground for manipulation and exploitation. With tons of undocumented migrants, their labor will be exploited and these people will even be susceptible to some of the harshest treatment imaginable, because the government does not have any information or way to protect these people (James 5:4 & Exodus 22:21–24).
Many on the Left say that illegal immigration is just families coming over to seek a better life. While this may be true, this is a minority of the cases. In most cases, like in Spain, it’s military aged males who have no respect or admiration for the country which they are flooding (Deuteronomy 28:43–44).
Behind the Feed
I read this verse recently and it shook me.
Habakkuk 1:7 “They [the Babylonians] are dreaded and feared; Their justice and authority originate with themselves.”
This verse speaks to our cultural moment today. People no longer recognize God as the one who gives life, liberty, morality, and truth. Today the phrase “your truth” is all too common. People believe that there is no overarching truth and that they can conjure up truth in their own image.
But originating truth and justice in man’s ability is something that God used to judge Israel when they turned from Him. Israel ignored the law of God, they ignored His justice and decided to do whatever was right in their own eyes. God then used the very thing that Israel was engaging in to judge them.
There’s nothing scarier than a society who lives in accordance to their own truth. This “truth” will only benefit the strong and will subdue everyone else, it will manipulate and will justify the means by the ends.
If our nation, and those around us, refuse to turn from our wicked ways and follow the One who looks out for those that overlooked, who puts the last first, who humbles the proud and exalts the humble, then we will continue further into lawlessness and despair.
We must help people see the danger of finding truth in anything but God.

Final Exhortation
No matter how crazy the storms of life may get, remember that you were created intentionally by God for a purpose. Ephesians 2:10 says "For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
Father, I thank you for this week. I ask, Lord, that you would guide the reader in your word this week, opening their eyes to You in a new and amazing way. I thank you, Lord, that you are our rock in the storm and that no matter where we may go, You are with us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
